An Update with Pictures

Ok, we got a new camera, and have been taking pictures, so let's get them up on the blog!

Here is Taylor reading the Sunday paper, and clipping coupons. She actually found an Elmo make Bubbles toy and got pretty excited about it. Also, while we drink our coffee, Taylor apparently likes to flip through the paper under the table. It was a bad hair day, but that's what happens sometimes if I'm in charge.

Lately with the weather warming up, Taylor loves to spend her time at the park. She actually doesn't like the swing as much as she used to because I think it restricts her. Lately, she just likes to walk around and try everything at the park. Swings, the sandbox, running around with the ball, and saying hi to new friends of hers. She's a really funny kid, and we're glad she's ours! Taylor is definitely teaching us, as much as we're teaching her!

Taylor provides a little TLC

We have been a little MIA lately on the blog. The last two weeks have been TLC time for "Mama". I had surgery last Monday and Taylor knows that I have a "boo boo." Spending a couple of weeks at home with Taylor has been the best medicine to get back to feeling well. I had my mom here for a while and Taylor making sure I had everything that I needed. While Nana and T had lots of fun singing the "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and "C is for Cookie", I recooperated and bounced back quickly! Thanks to everyone for well wishes and prayers.

Rainy Sunday

Today was a rainy Sunday, but we needed to expend some energy. We went to the indoor playspace in Lawrence (ImajineThat) and Taylor got to run around and play to her heart's content. A big deal today was going down the slide. She would have done it all day if we had the energy for it (Taylor wasn't the only one who needed a nap when we got home!). Here's a quick video...

Taylor Giving a Tour and Flexing Her Muscles

Elmo Makes Music

We took Taylor to the theatre this weekend - Sesame Street Live that is!!! They were showing "Elmo Makes Music" at the Lowell Auditorium and we thought Taylor might dig it. There was a chance she was still too young and wouldn't like sitting in an audience with live characters singing but we decided to give it a try. A good gamble! She loved it! The lights went down and the characters came out singing and she gasped in delight. Taylor was psyched about seeing Elmo live in person and loved all the songs. It was a lot of fun for all three of us!

I do have bad news to report....at the show the camera clunked out and I wasn't able to take any pictures. Such a bummer - because we would have gotten a lot of good ones! We'll have to look into getting the Cannon fixed or keep a look out for a new one on deep discount.

15 Month Update

Hi, everyone! Just a quick update. Taylor had her "well baby" check up today (and a couple vaccinations). She measured in at 26 lbs 5 oz and 32 inches tall! She's right around the 70th percentile for weight and 90th percentile for height (we think Aunt Stacy gets the credit for her tall gene!).

Update Time

I feel like I haven't created a blog entry in quite a while, so this is a good time to jot something down. Taylor is busy watching her nursery rhymes before Karin gets home from work, although now Taylor is walking and she watches Vinko and DJ while aimlessly roaming around in circles. It's as if she is constantly searching for a lost set of car keys. It's pretty amazing, really. Two weeks ago, she was crawling and very limited in walking, and now she only crawls as a last resort (i.e. - when she forgets she knows how to walk).

Taylor has about six or seven words in her vocabulary. The big word is "hi," which she says to everyone, whether they are real people or Elmo. Last week, at Paneras, she walked up to a little girl and yelled "Hi" in her face, and then waved to her from about three feet away. So, Karin and I are happy that she knows what "hi" means.

Other words that Taylor throws around from time to time (other than Dada and Mama):
bah, which means "ball" - this is a new one.
uh oh, which sounds more like "uh ooooooooooooooh" and is used primarily when Taylor throws her food or milk cup. She gives herself away. I hear "uh oooooooooooh," and it's pretty obvious there is macaroni and cheese sitting on the floor.
banana, which sounds like "na-na," and is also said when she sees an apple.
baby, which is pronounced as two words. Bay-Beeeeeee. At one time, she was calling all pictures "baby," whether they were babies or not, but now its seems as if she understands what a baby is. I think.
"woof", which is said when Taylor sees a dog. Sometimes, "woof" is used when she sees a goat, sheep or lion on TV, as well. And, in her mind, a cat also says "woof."

I think I am missing a couple of words, but that's the basic Taylor English Language. It's fun watching her figure things out and to start trying to communicate with us.

Everyone loves the airplane!

Uncle Scott came to vist the weekend after Christmas and Taylor loved hanging with him. She was good at the airplane game!!
