Taylor's "Big Girl Bed"

Taylor has big news to tell everyone...she is now in a big girl bed! We ordered a toddler bed last week and it arrived this weekend. With a little help from Taylor, Dad put it together and we had one excited little girl on our hands. She loves it...and wants to tell everyone about it. :)

The bed uses the same mattress as her crib and is very low to the ground to give her the ability to climb in and out. The side rails are very subtle but help her from falling out as she sleeps.

Sweet dreams, baby girl!

Stay tuned for an update next weekend when Taylor gets her first haircut!! So exciting!

Disney on Ice

Today we went to see Mickey, Minnie, and friends at the Disney on Ice show at the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston.

We took the train in, which was pretty exciting in itself. Here's a pic of Dada and Taylor waiting for the train.

Taylor has recently been watching The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and really loves Mickey and all of his friends (Goofy is really her favorite). Mama noticed a poster advertising the ice show and decided we MUST go! We all had so much fun!

Taylor was captivated. Dad bought her an awesome little Minnie buddy and she watched intently. When Minnie waved to her from the ice, Taylor held up her Minnie doll to show the real Minnie (as if to say, "you're my fav. I'm taking you home!!").

T hadn't had much exposure to the Disney princesses, since she hasn't seen any of the movies. But on the way home, we stopped at BJ's to stock up on diapers and wouldn't you know...there was a Snow White movie for sale. It was in Taylor's possession within a matter of seconds!

What a great Valentine's and President's Day weekend! Next stop...Miami to visit Poppi!!

Happy Valentine's Day!

This afternoon Taylor made Valentine's for her "classmates" at daycare. Last Friday was the "Sweetheart Dance" which we all attended, and this Friday Taylor will be exchanging Valentine's. We decided to go for homemade. It was a great activity for us this afternoon, and they turned out really sweet. Mama did the cutting hearts out and signed Taylor's name on most, and Taylor affixed the stickers and glitter. Here are some pictures of her art:

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone!

Maggie the Monkey

Uncle Scott gave Taylor a gift certificate to Build-a-Bear for her birthday last October. We just got around to making the trip and we would like to introduce Miss Maggie the Monkey!

First, Taylor picked out the monkey from lots of choices. There were Snowmen, Bears, Polar Bears...even an Owl!! But Taylor picked out the monkey (naturally our little monkey would choose her own monkey!). She also designated it a "girl monkey" at this point!

After she picked the monkey, she had her pick of 15 different sounds that the monkey could make. Obviously the "monkey sound" of ooh-ooh-ahh-ahh made the most sense.

And before they stuffed the monkey, Taylor picked out a heart. She rubbed it on her head so the monkey would be as smart as her, rubbed it on her cheek so she would be as cute as her, and rubbed it on her belly so she would be as fun as Taylor!

And we then picked out a pink Red Sox hat out, some jean overalls, and some cool pink sneakers for her to wear. Without further ado, we introduce Maggie the Monkey!!

After all that hard work, Taylor enjoyed a grilled cheese at Cheesecake Factory. What a day!!

Thanks so much for the fun day and the great addition of Maggie, Uncle Scott!!!

Santa came to visit!

We had a wonderful holiday season. Celebrating Hanukkah and Christmas with our families (whether we were physically with them or in spirit!) makes the season. :)

This year Taylor was very aware of who Santa was and that he brought presents. Whether she understood he came in the middle of the night and was led by reindeer in a sleigh...we're not sure.

We left Santa cookies, milk, and pizza (Taylor really held strong on the idea of pizza...we're positive Santa appreciated it too!!) and we woke up to a plate full of half eaten cookies (baked by Nana) and pizza (baked by Bertucci's). Amazing!

Here are some pictures from Christmas morning and Christmas Day at the Counihans.

Finishing the cookies Santa left behind...

Santa brought a Leap Frog computer, a new xylophone, and much more...
